GREEN SCREEN FILMING
Everyone has heard about Green Screen. Its used in many of the blockbuster movies we watch. In its basic terms green screen is a post production process where we can remove the background from a subject we have filmed. Its very easy for 'Croma Key' software to remove the green or blue background and allow it to be replaced with a space ship or alien but good quality background removal will depend on the effort put in at the filming stage to get everything right so the software has the best chance to remove the background so it looks realistic. I have been filming greenscreen elements for many years and learned the tips and tricks for getting the best greenscreen recording before it gets processed by the software in the editing program. Two top tips: 1. Make sure the green or blue background is lit with proper video lights and that the lighting is even throughout the background. This will really help when keying out the background. 2. Secondly I usually record the video at a high rate so if the subject is moving when you are filming them it will look smooth and not blurred when you process the final video.
